Nomura recruits a number of students in their penultimate year at their undergraduate schools for its 10-Week Summer Analyst Program in the Investment Banking Division. The Program offers an exciting opportunity for accomplished, highly motivated individuals to gain exposure to the Investment Banking industry.
 

The majority of the Summer Analysts will be placed in the Corporate Finance Group in Sydney where Summer Analysts will have opportunities to work on a number of projects in industries including Financial Institutions, Natural Resources, Metals & Mining, Industrials, and Consumer & Retail. In addition, we offer positions in our Global Finance Group in Sydney where Summer Analysts can specialize in our Debt Origination and Restructuring Group or the Risk Solutions Group. We would also be seeking candidates for positions available in regions including China (Beijing/Hong Kong), India, Korea, Taiwan, Southeast Asia (based in Singapore) teams in around September to December 2010.
 

Summer Analysts will assist bankers on financing and advisory projects as a member of the project team. Our goal is to help our Summer Analysts advance by providing them with significant responsibilities and diverse experience.

While no specific advanced degree or path of study is required for the Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program, strong quantitative skills and work experience in business and/or finance are preferred. Intelligence, leadership traits, diligence, the ability to work well with others and the willingness and capability to function efficiently under severe time constraints are absolutely essential. Long hours and demanding assignments are a constant reality in the Investment Banking field.  The 10-week Summer Analyst Program is an integral component of our full time recruiting efforts and at the end of the summer, offers are extended to strong performers to return to Nomura after graduation. Strong performers may also be extended offers for positions available in country coverage teams including Australia, China (Beijing/Hong Kong), India, Korea, Southeast Asia (based in Singapore) and Taiwan.
