“Success is not for the timid. It is for those who seek guidance, make decisions, and take decisive action” - José Silva
For university students, making an informed career decision and identifying job prospects are just some of the many challenges embedded in university life. In an increasingly competitive job-hunting environment, it is motivating to know there is an organisation that will support and promote students when they reach the difficult crossroad between university and workforce. The FMAA provides a professional forum of interaction between members and employers as a means to achieve this end.
Welcome to the FMAA
Since our inception in Melbourne in 1990, the FMAA has become the largest professionally focused student organisation in Australia, spanning across the University of Melbourne, University of Sydney and the University of Queensland. With over 1500 members nationally, the FMAA seeks to provide its members with a strategic edge in an otherwise daunting job market.
The networking opportunities offered, relationships forged and knowledge gained through the FMAA will distinguish you from other job candidates and develop a solid foundation for you to build upon as you enter the workforce.
An FMAA membership is an invaluable asset for enthusiastic and motivated students studying in Commerce related fields. Central to this idea are three key objectives upon which the FMAA is based:
- Assist in the professional, educational and social development of students interested in Commerce
- Provide an association for students actively interested in the field of Commerce
- Facilitate and encourage interaction between students and their potential future employers, business executives and academics in the field of Commerce.
We have many exciting plans for 2008, the year of the FMAA’s 18th birthday! We encourage you to become an active FMAA member and to take full advantage of the many resources provided to you.
On behalf of the FMAA, we thank our founding and Gold sponsor, the Macquarie Group, for their continued support and assistance over the last seventeen years. In addition, we would like to thank our National and State sponsors, our Board of Directors, the Faculty of Economics and Commerce/Business, the Department/Discipline of Finance and the Careers & Employment group/unit at the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney and the University of Queensland. We appreciate your continued efforts and support in assisting us become the largest professional student association in Australia.
Finally, we wish our members all the best with their future endeavours!
